As the temperature in D.C. dropped to the lowest point of the year, a group of PAS students departed Taiwan for an exciting MUN conference located in Washington D. C. Upon their arrival,the temperature was approaching -15°C, yet the freezing cold did not stop the students from exploring the varied fields of excitements and sensations hidden among the antiquated buildings and timeworn streets. Led by Mr. Manning, the group of 9 students got to explore the NationalMall, including the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, the Vietnam Veterans andKorean War Memorial, the White House, the Capitol, and many more historically significantbuildings. As the falling snowflakes covered the entire district in white, the students were alsoable to tour George Town University and purchase sweatshirts and T shirts of different kinds.

Everyday, after the fulfilling and exhausting explorations in the mornings, students returned totheir hotels and actively participated in conferences discussing a variety of topics. SinceNAIMUN takes an entirely different procedure from what the students are accustomed to, somestudents were confounded by the procedures of the conferences and found it challenging toparticipate. However, many also found the distinct and novel procedure to be entertaining andfascinating; as Vivian Chen commented, “this procedures give delegates more freedom andease to express their opinions.” Carley Wen also voiced her preference towards the NAIMUNprocedure: “I like the unmoderated caucuses, they are fun.”

In the end, after five days of unforgettable journey, the students reluctantly abroad the flightback to Taiwan. On the flight back, a student jokingly remarked “motion to extend NAIMUN, allin favor please raise your placard.”, showing their unwillingness to return from the amazing trip.
