2013-2014 PAS Science Fair
For the first time in school history the Annual Pacific American School Science Fair was held before the Winter Holidays. Typically scheduled around the Chinese New Year’s break, this year’s Science Fair pushed students to act fast and get the creative juices flowing. The young scientists in our ranks responded with some amazing new ideas and some nifty tweaks of previous works. From the physical sciences to the life sciences, from mathematics to psychology, from middle school through high school, there was a highly competitive and high quality presentation on display.
Projects were scored by a group of dedicated PAS faculty and staff as well as a host of outstanding scientists from in and around Hsinchu.
“Those were some of the best science fair projects I have seen in my time at PAS,“ said first-year judge and elementary teacher Mr. Nicholas Chapman.
Each judging room was full of intense debate as nearly all of the categories had several strong groups in the running for the top prize in group (and the highly sought-after movie tickets that came with it!). Judging for the psychology contest even lasted well into the afternoon as the top teams were so close, with the winner being announced at a later date.
As the culmination of weeks of hard work the December afternoon was an enjoyable and fun-filled event for all involved. Students showed their hard work and creativity, and hopefully started thinking of ideas to go after next year.
