This past November, a PAS delegation consisting of 26 people participated in the THIMUN Singapore conference. This year, the PAS delegates represented Chile and Benin. The delegation of Chile is also a member of the Security Council, providing the opportunity for outstanding performances from both Howard Yin and Angela Liu. This year 4 students were also accepted into applied positions, with Steven Tsay and Hank Chau as Advocates of the International Court of Justice, Angela Wang representing China in the Advisory Panel, and Kara Hu serving as the President of the THIMUN Singapore Security Council. Recent international developments and technological usage have also been reflected during THIMUN as fresh and interesting issues. For example, to integrate the recent Snowden case and teenagers’ obsession with technology, GA1 set up debate around the topic of internet security. The conference this year focused mainly on Asia, ranging from contentious topics like the Senkaku Islands to consensus issues aiming to address corruption in Asian economies. The trip was not entirely centered around the conference, however; outside the conference, the delegates enjoyed their off time relaxing in one of Asia’s most expensive shopping areas, Orchard Road.
