Model United Nations

The Model United Nations (MUN) Club at Pacific American School (PAS) provides students with an engaging platform to explore global issues, develop critical skills, and foster a deep understanding of international relations. Welcoming both middle and high school students, the club is a cornerstone of PAS’s commitment to nurturing globally minded leaders.

What Students Gain from MUN

Through active participation, students enhance key skills, including:

  • Public Speaking and Debate:
Building confidence and clarity while articulating ideas effectively in front of diverse audiences.
  • Diplomacy and Policy Writing:
Learning how to negotiate, draft resolutions, and collaborate with others to find solutions to complex global challenges.
  • Research and Analytical Thinking:
Investigating international issues and formulating evidence-based arguments.
  • Global Awareness:
Gaining insights into geopolitical dynamics, cultural perspectives, and pressing world affairs.

Weekly Mock Debates

Every Thursday after school, the club holds mock debates where students practice representing different nations. These sessions are designed to simulate real UN proceedings, enabling participants to engage in thoughtful discourse, navigate complex global issues, and refine their skills in diplomacy and negotiation.

Conferences and Opportunities

PAS MUN participants have the privilege of attending prestigious international conferences every year in locations such as:

  • Washington, DC
  • The Hague
  • Singapore

Additionally, students represent PAS in four major conferences across Taiwan, hosted in cities like Taipei, Kaohsiung, Taichung, and Hsinchu.

PASMUN – Our Signature Event

The club also organizes the annual PASMUN conference, a premier student-run event attracting participants from schools across Taiwan. This conference provides students with an opportunity to showcase their leadership and organizational skills while engaging in meaningful discussions with peers from diverse backgrounds.

Fostering Leadership and Collaboration

As a student-run organization, MUN empowers members to take on leadership roles, manage events, and mentor peers. The club emphasizes teamwork, critical thinking, and cross-cultural collaboration, offering students a transformative experience that extends beyond the classroom.

PAS MUN Club connect students with like-minded peers, enhance their understanding of global issues, and develop the skills to become a future leader in international relations.
