Middle School

The Middle School program at Pacific American School (PAS) serves as a crucial bridge between foundational learning in elementary school and the advanced academic rigor of high school. Designed for students in Grades 6 through 8, our Middle School curriculum fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and a passion for learning while emphasizing skill development and personal growth.

Grade-Level Structure and Subject Expertise

Students in Middle School are organized by grade level but benefit from instruction by subject-specific specialists in all academic areas. This approach allows for in-depth exploration of core subjects such as English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. To support diverse interests, students can choose from a range of elective programs, including Art and Design, Performing Arts, and Robotics.

Differentiated Instruction and English Language Support

PAS offers both mainstream and ESL (English as a Second Language) classes to meet the varied needs of learners. This ensures that students with limited English proficiency receive the targeted support they need to succeed while allowing those proficient in English to progress at an accelerated pace.

Technology and Design Thinking Integration

In todayโ€™s AI-driven world, technology plays a pivotal role in education at PAS. Since 2014, PAS has been a Google School, leveraging digital tools to enhance learning. In Middle School, students are required to take Technology and Design Thinking classes that emphasize creative problem-solving and practical applications. For students interested in robotics, the VEX program is offered as an exciting elective option.

Skills-Based, Project-Centered Learning

PAS Middle School emphasizes project-based learning to cultivate essential 21st-century skills, including critical thinking, research, communication, collaboration, and presentation. Hands-on projects provide opportunities for students to apply their knowledge to real-world challenges, learning through trial and error while developing resilience and adaptability.

Character Development and Leadership Opportunities

PAS believes in nurturing well-rounded individuals who are prepared to make meaningful contributions to their communities. Middle School students are encouraged to take on leadership roles, participate in community service, and develop teamwork skills through collaborative projects. This holistic approach helps students grow both academically and personally.

Preparing for High School and Beyond

The Middle School program at PAS is thoughtfully designed to equip students with the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to excel in High School and beyond. By fostering a love for learning and encouraging exploration of their interests, PAS Middle School prepares students to thrive in an interconnected, innovation-driven world.
