Hsinchu City Municipal Cup
March 5th, 2008
This year’s Hsinchu City Municipal Cup sports competition was held at Hsinchu city stadium, total of 55 elementary, middle and high schools attended this event. The opening ceremony was quite eye opening experience, all kinds of performances from thousands of students, the music and cheerleading, lighting up the ceremonial fire, even two elegant horses were invited to this event, the whole stadium was full of uplifting spirit.
For this year, our students joined the competition as below:
60m run: G2 Comar beulens, James Hyun, Annie Chen, and Stella Lee
100 m run: G5 Hantine Hsu and Angela Liu
200 m run: G5 Kara Hu
400 m relay: G5 Hantine Hsu , Kara Hu, Angela Liu, and Emily Kin
First day, G5 Kara Hu had cramp at her 200m run, but she insisted to finish PAS’s second event 400 m relay. These 4 girls finished the whole run beautifully, Hantine was crying because they didn’t win, but they all tried their best. The most important thing is they learn team spirit and sportsmanship in competitions.
Second day 8:25 am, it’s time for our G2 two boys and two girls to race. They caught so many people’s attention. Just looking at how short they are in the group with other G5 and G6 students. Everybody said they are so cute when they try to step on that race-assisting equipment before running. The second competition, G5 Angela’s 100m run cheered up everyone. She actually started slow, almost behind 4 or 5 students, and then you can see her catching up, with lots of cheering from us, Angela got the 1st place at her 100m run. We were all so excited, jumping and screaming for this moment. G5 Angela won the fifth place in the afternoon final heat.
This event also received lots of supports from our parents. We appreciate their help so much, without them, this can never happen. At the closing ceremony, all schools got together again, they lowered down the municipal cup flag, all school flags bowed down to show respect. We thank the rich experience this event brought us. Hopefully, there will be more students registering Hsinchu City Municipal Cup next year.
